Two people were hospitalized following a violent wrong-way crash in Van Nuys Sunday.

The incident unfolded as officers attempted to pull over a speeding car on the 101 Freeway around 2:15 a.m. CHP officials said the driver evaded officers at a high rate of speed.

The pursuit came to an end when the driver made a U-turn on the 405 Freeway and began driving the wrong way.

After a few seconds, the car crashed head-on into another vehicle at Victory Boulevard.

The suspect and a woman who was traveling in the other vehicle were transported to the hospital with major injuries.

A man and a baby, who were also in the other vehicle, were not hurt during the collision.

All lanes of the southbound 405 Freeway were closed at Victory Boulevard for several hours following the crash. CHP is investigating the incident.
