Torrance attempted burglary suspect sought

TORRANCE, Calif.

The incident occurred in the 4200 block of Sepulveda Boulevard around 10:30 a.m.

The victim told police that the suspect initially knocked on his door and rang the doorbell. When the victim looked out the window, he saw the man standing in front of the door with his back toward him.

About one minute later, the victim heard a side gate open and then saw the suspect kneeling on the ground outside of his living room's glass double doors. The suspect was holding what appeared to be a screwdriver in his hand and was attempting to pry open the rear door.

As the victim approached the door, the suspect stood up and fled the scene through the rear yard.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic or Middle Eastern male, between 17 and 20 years old and standing between 5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet 2 inches with a slender, lanky build, black hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a black and white plaid jacket and faded blue jeans.
