Big rig carrying TVs erupts in flames, closing 10 West for 5 hours

EAST LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A big rig hauling a load of TVs caught fire on the 10 Freeway near Cal State Los Angeles, shutting down all westbound lanes at the 710 Freeway.



The truck fire was reported near the Eastern Avenue exit just after 11 a.m. Tuesday. Due to the container full of televisions, a hazmat team was called to the scene.

No injuries were reported.



The fire happened on the 10 West beneath the Eastern Avenue overcrossing. Inspectors examined the structure and determined the overcrossing was not compromised.




Westbound lanes of the 10 Freeway reopened just before 4:30 p.m. after a five-hour closure. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
