Thief arrested after stealing Christmas gift on camera

CARSON, Calif. (KABC) -- A real-life Grinch was caught on camera stealing a Christmas gift from a porch outside a Carson home.

The theft was captured on a home surveillance system on Dec. 14 in the 400 block of West 224th Street. The footage shows the culprit grabbing the package and walking away.

Police identified the suspect as 32-year-old Gabriel Martinez. He was arrested at his home with multiple stolen items.

Investigators said Martinez has an extensive criminal history, including felony convictions for theft. He is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail. His arraignment is scheduled for Thursday.
