January 14, 2008 12:00:00 AM PST
TV's favorite nanny joined California legislators to introduce new legislation that will require insurance companies to pay for testing for ovarian and uterine cancer.State assemblywoman Sally Lieber made the announcement joined by Fran Drescher, former star of "The Nanny" and a survivor of uterine cancer.

Currently, insurance companies only pay for testing of cervical cancer.

Drescher, who founded a non-profit organization called Cancer Schmancer, wants to help change that.

"If only I knew then what I know now. Most women, rich or poor, young or old, and from every ethnic background have no idea that the pap test doesn't cover anything north of the cervix," said Drescher.

Assemblywoman Lieber also presented Drescher with an Assembly resolution recognizing her work in the fight against cancer.
