Kids on ADHD drugs should watch hearts

The American Heart Association is issuing new guidelines regarding the effects of stimulants like Ritalin and Adderall on children's hearts.

While these drugs are generally considered mild, researchers are asking doctors to get a full family history, a thorough physical exam and an EKG.

Even with a heart condition, experts say children can still take ADHD drugs, as long as they're supervised.

Nationwide, 2.5 million children take drugs for ADHD.
