2 candidates in running for O.C. Sheriff

SANTA ANA The Board of Supervisors has narrowed the field down to Sandra Hutchens, a former Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Division Chief, and Santa Ana Police Chief Paul Walters.

Acting Sheriff Jack Anderson was in the audience during Tuesday's meeting, but was eliminated, causing a county supervisor to nearly break down in tears.

"Acting Sheriff Anderson is not going to be the next Orange County sheriff. And we all appreciate the efforts that he's made," said Orange County Supervisor Chris Norby.

Former Sheriff Mike Carona resigned in January to fight federal corruption charges against him. His trial is set for August.
