Clot-busting drug may be more effective

In order to prevent serious damage from a stroke, doctors have a three-hour window to give a patient a drug called TPA. Getting it in time can be the difference between serious disability and recovery.

A new study now shows TPA may be effective up to four-and-a-half hours after a stroke. So even if patients aren't treated within the three-hour window, it may still help.
