Injuries abound, but 'Dancing' must go on

LOS ANGELES It's Week Five of "Dancing With The Stars." Monday night: The hidden injury; the theory behind a hug; and Cloris the Cougar ... the proof is in her purring.

"She is getting stronger by the week. And I'm telling you, I'm not being careful with her. She is just a little tiger," said Corky Ballas.

"Grrrrr!" growls Cloris.

Triple sevens for their Salsa puts Cloris Leachman and Corky Ballas tied for last place, alongside Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer, who did the West Coast Swing.

Despite the score, Lance says they're having a good time.

"There's a couple of stressed out days but," said Lance.

"We have moments," said Lacey.

"We have moments but, yeah, we're happy the whole entire time," said Lance. "We're just happy to be here."

Toni Braxton and Alec Mazo also did the West Coast Swing and tied for fifth.

"So we had the Michael Jackson great song so we thought, you know, the hair and the clothes and the moonwalk. The judges hated it," said Toni.

Also in fifth, Susan Lucci, who learned she had two fractured bones in her foot, and she still did the Hustle.

"But the doctor treats athletes and dancers all the time so he knew I was going to dance," said Susan. "He said, 'You're like an athlete who's going to go play that game.' I said, 'I am.' "

Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson hustled to a fourth-place finish.

"You know when I felt it? When we went down and were doing these ones. The crowd went crazy," said Kym.

v "Holy smokes. I love this place!" said Sapp.

So does Maurice Greene. His Salsa with Cheryl Burke got third.

"Hey, I think [Carrie Ann] wanted to hug me from the kiss I blew her. I think that's what it was," said Maurice.

"And she wanted to show off her dress, of course, because it was beautiful. She never stands up," said Cheryl.

Cody Linley and Julianne Hough got 28 for their jitterbug, second place.

"Oh man, first it was like 'Waaaaahh' and then second it was like, 'Wahoo!'" exclaimed Cody.

In first place, Brooke Burke and Derek Hough. Their Jitterbug sent her to the hospital for X-rays on Sunday.

"I didn't even find out from her," said Derek. "Somebody told me that 'Brooke's in the hospital!' I was like, 'What? What happened?'

"Well, I knew we were dancing anyway and I've been icing it around the clock and it's fine. There's no fracture," said Brooke.

Brooke planned to head home to give her feet more ice, and hopefully Derek went to wash out that 'do, which was all his own hair.
