Study: Flu shot could fight blood clots

November 10, 2008 12:00:00 AM PST
Yet another reason for folks to roll up their sleeves this winter and get a flu shot, new findings show it could reduce your risk for blood clots. A French study compared about 700 patients who had blood clots to 700 who didn't. They found those who had a flu shot were 26 percent less likely to get a blood clot.

The link was strongest in people younger than 52. Why this is so is unclear, so researchers are calling for further study.
