ICE impersonator robs L.A. victims

LOS ANGELES Police said the suspect confronted two men near the Staples Center. He arrested one man, put him in handcuffs and took him in a black SUV. He drove off and robbed the man, then released the man unharmed.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his 40s, about 5 feet 2 inches tall, 230 pounds. He was wearing an olive-colored ballistic vest, a white T-shirt, plain blue pants, and a tan gun belt at the time of the holdup.

The black SUV, possibly a Chevy suburban, has California license plates, and some witnesses have said it had red and blue lights in the front, making it appear to be a police vehicle.

Authorities are concerned about the suspect for a couple reasons. First, he's impersonating an immigrations officer, and second, he appears to be armed. Police are worried that he'll try it again, and somebody may get hurt.

Police are stressing they are not concerned with a person's immigration status. If you saw something, police are not going to ask you if you're in the country legally or not. They just want to get this man off the streets.

Anyone with information is urged to call the LAPD at (877) LAPD-24-7.
