Push for safety crackdown on charter buses

SACRAMENTO /*Assemblyman Dave Jones*/ is proposing a measure he says will increase the safety of passengers by requiring all charter buses to have the required licenses and permits.

Jones says his proposed law will help prevent fatal charter bus crashes such as the one that killed 10 people and injured dozens of others last October near Colusa.

The assemblyman says the owner of that bus, who was killed in the crash, was already in violation of existing laws that could have prevented the deadly accident had they been enforced.
