Ventura cops use Internet to fight crime

VENTURA, Calif. According to the /*Ventura County Star*/, the /*Oxnard Police Department*/ says it keeps an eye on a local Ventura County crime blog for possible tips as well as other sources on the Web.

Like many departments, Oxnard's police department uses its own Web site to post local crime news, statistics and even produces a Web cast.

The Ventura County chapter of crime stoppers also uses the Web, allowing people to post tips in both English and Spanish.
