Blood pressure meds reduced other risks

May 20, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
There's a new report that blood pressure drugs may benefit all seniors regardless of whether they have high blood pressure or not.British doctors reviewed four decades worth of clinical research.

The results showed that a combination of different types of hypertension drugs reduced the odds of stroke and heart disease in all patients.

The study researchers said this suggests all seniors should be offered blood pressure drugs, even if they have normal blood pressure levels.

Critics say the study needs more review.
