Resident faces jail time for loud parties

LOS ANGELES Eighteen noise complaints have been filed since July, against homeowner Melahat Uzumcu, who rents out her lavish 6,900-square-foot home for wedding receptions.

Uzumcu's website describes the home as an "elegant chateau," but nearby residents are less than thrilled by the noise and traffic around their neighbor's house.

The City has now charged Uzumcu with improperly renting out the home.

She will be arraigned Tuesday on charges of violating the zoning code, conducting a business without a license and creating a public nuisance.

She faces a fine up to $4,000 and up to two years in jail.
