Run raises breast cancer research funds

GLENDALE, Calif. Men, women, children and even dogs pounded the pavement at the Americana at Brand in Glendale Sunday morning. There was a 5K race for beginners and a 10K race for runners who really wanted to go the distance.

Also on hand were several celebrities including singer and dancing with the stars contestant Mya.

"My mother is an 11-year breast cancer survivor, and this is a cause that's near and dear to my heart. Run4HerLife.com you can find out more information, and they are raising money and all proceeds go to the University of South California research lab," said Mya.

Organizers of Sunday's race say it's critical to continue funding research into breast cancer. They say there are one million women out there right now who have breast cancer and don't know it yet.
