Get latest looks by shopping your own closet

LOS ANGELES We asked the experts at Harper's Bazaar to help us revamp our wardrobes by looking at clothes we already have in our closets.

"The key to a new wardrobe isn't always what you buy. But it can be about re-interpreting what you already have," said Jane Loddo of Harper's Bazaar.

Loddo suggests digging deep in that closet for anything velvet. For example, you can pair a velvet jacket with a pencil skirt for work, then with jewels and strappy sandals for a night out.

"Then you take the velvet jacket and dress it down for the weekend with a pair of jeans, so you can really get three outfits from one piece." Loddo said.

Another way to update your look is to team up that old plaid shirt with stylish jeans and a fun T-shirt.

"The look is a lot more contemporary and a lot less school girl," Loddo said.

Do you have a sequin tank left over from last holiday season? Harper's Bazaar confirms sequins are not just for special occasions, they're fit for daytime, too!

It's also the season to pull out those boots.

"It's definitely an item you can use and re-use again," Loddo said. Short or tall, boots can be worn with just about everything else in your closet.

The experts also remind everybody to dig in the jewelry box.

"A statement ring, or a statement necklace, can instantly turn up your outfit or style a notch, without too much of an out-of-pocket investment," Loddo said.
