Mountain lion spotted several times in Ventura

VENTURA, Calif. The first sighting was at Hilltop Drive near Foothill Road on December 17 shortly before 9:30 p.m. A witness reported seeing a mountain lion measuring about about 3 feet tall and 5 feet long running northbound across Foothill Rd.

Then, the next day at about 1 p.m., a mountain lion was seen near the restrooms at Arroyo Verde Park, again on Foothill Rd.

The third sighting came Tuesday at about 10 a.m. A resident spotted a mountain lion in the backyard near Sherwood and Fernwood Drives, close to Ventura High School.

Warning signs have been put up and homes in the area were notified using the city's high-speed telephone notification system.
