Major changes could be in store for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department as the city looks for ways to close its budget gap.Plans call for the department to reduce its budget by $128 million. Sheriff Lee Baca is entertaining several ways to help reach that goal, including shortening the sentences of nonviolent county jail inmates and ending supervision to some parolees.

Baca also suggests moving hundreds of deputies from administrative duties to street patrol and slashing overtime payments.
