Fundraiser held in memory of Isaiah Thomas

TOLEDO, OH Four years ago, a little boy tragically drowned in a hotel pool. On Saturday night, his family honored his memory by giving back to he community.

It was the second annual fundraiser for the Isaiah Thomas Giving Foundation. For Isaiah's family, it was a time to remember.

Back in June of 2006, Isaiah drowned in a hotel pool. He was attending his cousin's birthday party. Isaiah was left unattended and then was later found in the pool. He was seven years old at the time.

Ever since his death, his family has worked hard to keep his memory alive. His mother Mary Beal told us, "So from there, because of our son giving and everything, we just continued to give, so the foundation has been up and running for 4 years."

Isaiah's father Frederick Thomas added, "He always gave, so we're trying to give back to those that are less fortunate."

All of the money the foundation raises will go to several local organizations, like the YMCA, where he played sports with his dad, and his school, the Lake Erie Academy.

Isaiah's parents say none of it would be possible without the help of the community.

Since Isaiah's death, his parents had another baby, a boy who is now two. They say when he turns three, they plan to sign him up for swimming classes.
