Brazen thief steals bikes from Downtown L.A.

LOS ANGELES They say the suspect stole three bikes over a four day period in the area around the U.S. Bank Tower and Central Library.

Los Angeles police Lieutenant Paul Vernon says on March 26 the thief stole a bike from the bank tower garage, "and then returned 40 minutes later and took another one."

Four days later, on March 30, security cameras captured the same man cutting the lock on a bike at the City National Plaza bike rack on Flower Street. Police say the suspect has a mustache, and is believed to be in his 30s.

He was last seen wearing a white baseball or painter's cap, a dark jacket and white tennis shoes. He carried an oversized bag, slung over his shoulders and back, in which he probably is carrying tools, Vernon said.

Anyone with information was asked to call LAPD Investigators at (213) 972-1231.
