18 at Bishop International Airport to lose jobs

Delta Airlines employees were notified this week
FLINT Eighteen workers at Delta Airlines were notified this week that they will lose their jobs starting in June.

This comes on the heals of a successful year at Bishop. Just since last month, travel is up 7 percent. Employees at Flint's Bishop International Airport are dealing with a sense of loss.

"You can kind of feel it in the airport...everybody is upset," said Kaela Ruiz.

"You're never going to see them anymore and it's hard," said Joe Gaza.

The layoffs are not the result of declining business at the airport. They are simply the outcome of  airline improvements.

Bishop spokeswoman Pat Corfman says it's possible the employees could find a job with one of the other airlines but so far nothing has been worked out.
