CSU Board to vote on another fee hike

LOS ANGELES University officials blame budget problems and the economy. The /*CSU*/ Board of Trustees will meet next week to vote on the fee hike. If passed, fees would be raised for undergraduate, graduate and teacher credential students by about 5 percent.

Education doctorate students would be hit with a 10 percent fee hike. The board also will vote on eliminating the cap on nonresident tuition.

Over the past two years, the CSU and the /*University of California*/ systems have reduced enrollment, furloughed faculty and cut courses in response to steep reductions in state funding. Both systems have raised undergraduate fees by more than 30 percent over the past year.
