Study: Alcohol drinkers may live longer

LOS ANGELES Researchers from the University of Texas and a medical journal conducted lengthy studies. For reasons that aren't entirely clear, they both indicate heavy to moderate drinkers live longer than those who abstain from alcohol.

According to the findings, those who primarily drink red wine live even longer.

However, the authors of both studies stressed that drinking can be dangerous, impairing memory and reaction time.

The findings are published in the journal Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research.
