2 killed in plane crash near Lake Mathews

LAKE MATHEWS, Calif. Authorities said the homebuilt Glasair aircraft left Corona Municipal Airport on Saturday with two people on board. The single-engine plane was reported missing Saturday night when it failed to return as planned.

Deputies with the /*Riverside County Sheriff's Department*/ found the wreckage Sunday morning near the shore of Lake Mathews. Two bodies were discovered in the wreckage, which was about 30 miles from the airport.

The plane is registered to a man in /*Moreno Valley*/. The names of those who died were not immediately released.

The /*FAA*/ and the /*National Traffic Safety Board*/ were investigating the crash.
