BART shooting: Attorneys argue sentencing

LOS ANGELES The recommendation, filed in a Los Angeles court Tuesday, counters a defense request that Johannes Mehserle be granted probation.

He was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of Oscar Grant, 22, on a /*Bay Area Rapid Transit*/ train platform New Year's Day 2009.

He faces up to 14 years in prison when he's sentenced next week.

His trial was moved to Los Angeles County due to racial tensions and extensive media coverage in the Bay Area.
