Police use water cannon in L.A. standoff

Police used a water cannon to enter a home and arrest a domestic violence suspect after a five-hour standoff in South L.A.The suspect threatened his girlfriend with a gun in a home at 60th Street and Grand Avenue around 11 p.m. on Saturday, and the girlfriend called police.

When officers arrived on scene, the suspect refused to budge and a SWAT team was called in.

At this point, police used a water cannon to get access into the home. The suspect finally surrendered around 5 a.m.

The man was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. The girlfriend was not injured in the incident.
