Oxnard motorist flees after striking baby

OXNARD, Calif. Sherre Savala, 51, was driving eastbound on Bard Road around 8 p.m. when she struck a baby in a stroller being pushed by the mother. The impact knocked the stroller to the ground, causing the baby to strike her head.

Savala initially got out of the car and spoke to the mother, but she quickly returned to her car and fled.

/*Oxnard police*/ officers spotted Savala trying to make a run for it and stopped her. She was arrested for hit-and-run.

The baby was transported to Saint John's Regional Medical Center where it was determined that she received only minor injuries to her head.

Officers also suspected that Savala was driving under the influence of narcotics, and she was also arrested for that charge.
