Local doggy daycare holds border battle contest

MONCLOVA TWP. It's a border battle of the bladders. They've put both a Michigan fire hydrant and an Ohio State hydrant out front at Rover Come Over and whichever one gets used more wins! But a local non-profit is the real winner.

They were all a little shy while the camera was rolling, but plenty of dogs at Rover Come Over doggy daycare have been marking the spot for their favorite team. Rover Come Over owner Sheri Plocek says, "It's been close, but at this time we have more dogs lifting their legs on the Ohio State hydrant much to my dismay."

But Michigan and Ohio State aren't the winners of this contest. This border battle is called "Lift a Leg for Charity" and each time a dog hits one of the hydrants, a dollar is donated to Humane Ohio -- a low cost spay/neuter clinic. But once again the bias is clear.

"We try to make the charity drives fun and this is a fun one. We have a lot of customers standing out front trying to get their dogs to lift their legs on the Michigan hydrant," says Plocek.

This border battle is not over. It will run through Saturday and they hope to raise a couple hundred dollars.
