November 26, 2010 12:00:00 AM PST
The Obama Administration has announced a $6.6 million grant to help purchase collision-avoidance equipment for Metrolink. This particular grant is for the Inland Empire and its connections to the rest of Southern California.

The collision avoidance system will work in unison with 20 new rail cars equipped with impact-absorbing technology.

The push for safer technology follows the 2008 Chatsworth crash when a Metrolink train collided with a freight train, killing 25 people.
