December 6, 2010 12:00:00 AM PST
Fears that a crippled tanker would run aground in Alaska's Aleutian Islands are easing Monday, as it nears Dutch Harbor. The vessel with half a million gallons of fuel on board is being towed to the harbor.

Coast Guard officials said the ship was about 80 miles away from port and is expected to arrive Tuesday.

The ship lost some engine power on Friday and was adrift in the island chain until it was secured by a towing vessel over the weekend.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
