Dueling girl pitchers make history in Calif.

LAKE BALBOA, Calif.

Two girls started as opposing pitchers in a high school baseball game, believed to be a first in California.

Marti Sementelli of Birmingham High was solid, pitching a complete game and giving up just one run in a 6-1 victory.

Her counterpart, Ghazaleh Sailors of San Marcos High in Santa Barbara also played well, not just on the mound but also at the plate.

She blooped a single off Sementelli late in the game.

Sailors took the loss, pitching four innings and giving up three runs.

Both young women plan on playing college baseball next year.

The two are good friends, having played together before on the USA Baseball Womens National Team.
