Two weeks ago, "Sasha", the companion of a special needs child, got out of her yard and was hit by a car. Her owners, the Alcala family, did not have enough money to fix her broken leg and they feared she was in pain, so they turned her over to a shelter to be euthanized.
That's when German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County stepped in to provide the surgery she needed.
"It's wonderful," said Sasha's owner Marivel Alcala. "It's a blessing. We actually never thought that we'd see her again and knowing that she's with us, it's a blessing."
Six-year-old Sasha's leg is still healing, so the family will have to keep her in a crate for the next several weeks.
