Dogs rescued after slipping down steep hill

CLACKAMAS, Ore.

The dogs, Doug and George, are safe and sound after the scary experience.

A tree in their yard was uprooted during a recent storm, creating a gap in the fence. The two apparently got too close to the edge and slid 175 feet down.

Rescue crews were called, but it took some doing to get the dogs into the rescue boat.

"Corralling them and getting them in the right direction was challenging," said Harrison Zieverink, a Clackamas County firefighter. "And getting them on the boat was definitely challenging."

Now back home, Doug and George have been steering clear of the cliff.
