Burbank is enforcing a new city ordinance to restrict smoking in public areas of apartment buildings and condos.

The ordinance, which was adopted in 2007, banned smoking in most common areas of multi-family residential buildings.

Sunday, the ordinance expanded to include private patios and balconies, play areas for children, swimming pools when children are present, and condo and apartment units that have shared ventilation systems.
