May 9, 2011 12:00:00 AM PDT
A high-flying hawk got stuck in a tree and needed rescue from Los Angeles firefighters in Woodland Hills on Sunday.

Eyewitness News viewer Dorothy Richardson shot video of the rescue that showed the bird tangled up in fishing line and flapping to get free on the 5300 block of Elvira Road at 7:18 p.m.

Firefighters used a long ladder to reach the bird 40 feet up. The hawk was freed and turned over to animal control.
