The new show follows a more familiar story line and has a lighter mood with comic touches.
The character Arachne, formerly a villainess, was changed to a guiding angel, and the relationship between Peter Parker and girlfriend M.J. and Parker and his rival Green Goblin were much enhanced.
In addition, the climactic aerial battle was moved to later in the show rather than in the first act. Some extra stunts were also added.
The new show expects to have about a month of previews before its June 14 opening.
