Measles cases on the rise in California

May 16, 2011 12:00:00 AM PDT
California public health officials warn measles cases are on the rise in the state. There have been 13 cases this year, but seven since April alone.

Health experts think the increase might be due to foreign travelers who have been infected abroad then come to California.

Measles is still an ongoing problem in Europe and it's spreading through India and the Phillipines, as well.

Doctors say because measles spread so quickly, vaccinations are crucial to prevent an outbreak.
