SF-bound plane evacuated due to engine trouble at Dulles

WASHINGTON

United Airlines Flight 586 was about to take off when the pilot noticed smoke coming from an engine.

The flight was already on the airport taxiway. Emergency chutes were inflated, and passengers were taken off the plane.

The plane headed back to the terminal to be inspected.

It was unclear how many passengers and crew were aboard the plane. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was among the passengers.
