Santa Ana CHP Explorers win state competitions

SANTA ANA, Calif.

Explorers are civilian volunteers usually aged 15 to 24 who hope to become police officers.

Explorers Westley Fischer, Amy Rodriguez, and Cole Summers graduated from the Level III Explorer Academy at the CHP Academy.

Summers received the Academic Achievement Award, and Amy Rodriguez received the Most Inspirational Explorer Award. Santa Ana received two of four possible awards.

Explorers Cesar Banuelos, Josh Tango, Jordan Ortiz, Jennifer Meza, Asad Khan, Bryan Gonzalez, and Daniel Keene participated in the 2011 OCLEEAA Explorer Competition and received first and fifth place in DUI, third and fourth place in Felony Stops, and fourth place in the driving simulator.

Explorers also donated 24 hours assisting Garden Grove P.D. with the Strawberry Festival Parade Traffic Control, and 33 hours were donated assisting Westminster CHP with terrorist/riot/EMR training. Explorers were role-players.
