Nicholas Smit was convicted in November of the attempted murder of a police officer who had arrested him on a drug charge.
Prosecutors say in one attempt, Smit rerouted natural gas into the office of a gang task force and rigged an explosion.
No one was hurt in any of the attacks.
The Press Enterprise reported that a judge sentenced Smit Friday to the maximum sentence.
Smit's alleged co-conspirator is set to be tried separately in January.
