The department received several reports of gunshots fired on the 14700 block of Holly Drive in Fontana at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
Numerous people and vehicles reportedly fled the scene, according to callers.
Responding deputies found an unidentified black man lying on the edge of Redwood Ave. near Holly Dr. with a gunshot wound.
The man was hospitalized, where he was pronounce dead.
A Sheriff's Homicide investigation was ongoing.
