NYU professor says he was fired for giving James Franco bad grade

December 20, 2011 12:00:00 AM PST
A former New York University professor is suing to get his job back, and at the center of it all is actor James Franco.

Jose Santana said he was fired for giving Franco a "D" grade in his acting class. Santana said Franco didn't show for 12 of his 14 classes.

The professor told The New York Post that the school created a "Franco-friendly environment" to cash in on the actor's celebrity status.

NYU and Franco have not commented on the lawsuit.
