Elton John to write book about AIDS crisis

LONDON

"Love is the Cure: Ending the Global Aids Epidemic" will be the musician's first book. He says it will be about his personal experiences with the disease, including memories of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury who died from an AIDS-related illness.

The British pop star said that book would ask why more isn't being done to find a cure and that AIDS " is a disease that must be cured not by a miraculous vaccine, but by changing hearts and minds, and through a collective effort to break down social barriers."

The book will be published in July and will be available as an audio book, read by John. All proceeds will go to the Elton John Foundation.
