Dolphins suggested to keep Hormuz Strait open

With continuing tension surround threats to close Iran's Strait of Hormuz, some retired military commanders are suggesting the United States Navy use dolphins to keep the strait open.

The Strait of Hormuz is an important route for oil exports. According to The Atlantic Wire, a retired admiral who commanded a U.S. fleet before the Iraq war said this is exactly the kind of situation where mine-sweeping dolphins could be useful.

The U.S. Navy has been using trained dolphins and sea lions for security since the Vietnam War.
