John Paul Mitchell Systems co-owner's plane makes emergency landing

VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES

A Learjet carrying John Paul DeJoria, the co-owner of John Paul Mitchell Systems, had taken off for Austin, Texas when things went terribly wrong.

The pilot immediately turned the jet around. After a low approach, he landed safely at Van Nuys Airport.

"Two tires blew. Two more while we were sitting there, the air just came out of. Our hydraulic fluid was gone. The parachute popped when we landed," said DeJoria. "It was really unbelievable, but I had no doubt I had great pilots with me. We were calm, and I knew my time was not up."

No one was hurt. DeJoria later said the pilot did an amazing job and he was "very grateful."
