Huntington Beach police to cut patrol staffing for budget

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.

The Huntington Beach Independent newspaper reports starting in June, the department will reduce the number of per-shift patrol officers from 10 to eight, except on Friday and Saturday afternoons and evenings.

Budget restrictions are forcing the department to eliminate overtime pay, which would be required if they maintained 10 officers for every shift.
