An officer was on patrol on the 4400 block of Elder Avenue in the College Park East area of Seal Beach on Monday when the alleged victim ran up to him for help. The woman said she had gotten into an argument with a relative, who then lunged at her with the sword. The victim escaped and did not sustain any physical injuries.
The 21-year-old suspect, identified as Andrew Baoan Nguyen, fled the home but was arrested when he returned.
He faces assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder charges. Seal Beach police also said Nguyen faces cocaine use and possession charges.
