LOS ANGELES

Pedro Espinoza is accused of killing the high school football star in 2008.

Monday, three officers, including a probation officer, were scheduled to testify for the defense. But they failed to show up, infuriating the judge. The defense rested anyway.

Prosecutors claim Espinoza was a gang member out to kill a black member of a rival gang. He could face the death penalty if convicted.
