4.4-magnitude earthquake, 2.7 aftershock rattle Southern California

YORBA LINDA, Calif.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the initial temblor struck at 11:23 p.m. at a depth of 5.1 miles. Smaller aftershocks trailed, including some magnitudes 1.4 and 1.2.

The quick jolts were felt through the region, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or major damage.

All Los Angeles Fire Department resources went into emergency earthquake mode, which included checking school buildings, power lines and bridges to ensure public safety.
